• Job Title: Registered Nurse

• Vacancy Type: Monday to Friday, with ongoing agency shifts available

• Location: Knysna (view map)

• Pay Rates: R155.15* per hour

• Start Date: As soon as possible

Responsibilities

• Provide High-Quality Nursing Care: Administer medications, monitor health conditions, and assist with daily living activities for elderly residents, including bathing, dressing, and feeding, always ensuring dignity and respect.

• Care Plan Development: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement personalized care plans for each resident, adjusting as necessary to meet their evolving needs.

• Assessment and Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor cognitive decline, memory loss, and behaviour changes specific to dementia and alzheimer's.

• Family Education and Support: Guide families on managing the progression of Alzheimer's and dementia, offering coping strategies and resources.

• Team Collaboration: Work alongside other healthcare professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure the holistic care of residents.

• Safety and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and safe environment for both residents and staff, following infection control protocols and adhering to all health and safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration.

• Experience with dementia and alzheimer's patients.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with residents and their families.

• Ability to work in a team environment, while also being independent and proactive.

• Valid basic life support (BLS) and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

• Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to providing high-quality care.
